After the Snow

Here it is Friday morning again and trying to come up with  not just interesting foods   but a menu that includes those  foods that give  you  that deep down feeling of warmth & comfort.
 So her It goes
 Friday night:
   Gefilte fish, chicken soup with lentils, chicken with roasted root vegetables(parsnip,beets, sweet & white potatoes,leek,onions&turnips) Sauteed beet greens in a cabernet reduction ,Ratitouile,grilled asparagus and for desert  a warm fruit compote with  rhubarb,apples,pears,strawberries,sweet cherries  and just a touch of cognac
Shabbat Lunch:
 eggs & onion(partially warmed carmelized & raw), chulent with lamb and  southwestern sausage.shrama seasoned 1/2 turkey breast
Salads:
cole slaw,cucumber,scorn salad,southwestern bean salad,tachina
Baked goods:
 oatmeal raisin  cookies, chocolate chip cookies apple cake, and of course my whole wheat challah
 I hope to post a couple  of my recipes & some  pictures of some of my finished products later

  1. here is my first requested recipe sauteed beet greens
    2 bunches of beet green well washed and chopped seprating the stalks and leaves
    4 cloves garlic chopped
    1 medium onion thinly sliced
    2 -3 tsp extra virgin olive oil
    2 tsp sugar
    1 tsp cider vinegar
    1 /2 cup dry red wine
    saute onion and garlic until translucent tha add chopped stalks until softened add leaves reduce with red wine add sugar and vinegar until softened and reduced for about 20 minutes salt & pepper to your taste ENJOY !!!!
